Allergies and intolerance 

Here at the Donkey & Buskins we take allergies and special dietary requirements very seriously. We want our customers to feel reassured that we look after their needs properly regarding allergies and intolerances. To ensure this happens our chef team and management work closely with our suppliers and food safety partners to ensure that our information is correct and accurate.

So we understand your needs we ask that you inform the bar staff or waiter before you order of any special dietary requirements you may have. Our recipes frequently change and updated dependant on the availability of ingredients therefore please check with us each time you visit to ensure you have the most up-to-date information.

Whilst every care is taken in the preparation your meal, we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free environment, nor can we guarantee against the processes used by our suppliers or products which may be produced in an environment with other allergens. Where an ingredient is included as part of the recipe, this will be specified, however it is possible that dishes may contain traces of other allergens. Please speak with one of our staff who will always check and confirm with the chef team.


Helpful information:

Gluten Free

  • Our chips are G.F. and we fry them in a separate fryer from other products to reduce the risk of cross-contamination

  • We stock G.F. bread which can easily be substituted for any ciabatta or bread on our any of our main dishes. Just let us know you want this G.F. substitute.

  • Any gravy or jus can be substituted for a G.F. gravy. Just let us know you want this G.F. substitute.

  • G.F. Ale is available from the bar to accompany your meal.

Raw meat

  • Our steaks and burgers are cooked to order. Consuming raw or undercooked meats may increase your risk of foodborne illness and effects may be more severe in children, pregnant women, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.

  • If we have under cooked any meat for your liking please let us know as soon as possible so the chef team can correct this.

Sever allergies

  • If your allergy or intolerance is server please highlight this to us. Additional measures can be taken to prevent cross-contamination such as waiters using gloves after hand-wash.
